Omar Sherif’s famous films screened in commemorating film week

Until Friday 14 July, Sherif’s masterpieces are to be screened at El-Hanager cinema.


Commemorating Omar Sherif’s enriching role in both local and international cinema, the Cultural Development Fund is organising the Omar Sherif Film Week at El-Hanager cinema in the Cairo Opera House.

For years, Egypt’s prominent actor Omar Sherif charmed people with his unique outstanding performances in both local and international films. With his charismatic appearance, decency, and heart-touching performance, the late actor won the hearts of Egyptians with his first appearance in “Shaytan Al-Sahra” (Devil of the Desert) in 1954.

From Monday 10 July until Friday 14 July, Sherif’s masterpieces are to be screened at El-Hanager cinema.

The screened films include “Esha’et Hob” (A Rumor of Love), produced in 1960. The film is considered one of Egyptian cinema’s precious gems and stars Souad Hosney, Youssef Wahbi, and Hend Rostom.

“Funny Girl” is also scheduled to be screened during the week. In the film, produced in 1960, Sherif portrays NickyArnstein, an American professional gambler and con artist.

The aforementioned films, along with the famous “Lawrence of Arabia” and “Nahr El-Hob” (River of Love), are all set to be screened, with post-screening discussions with several critics, directors, and artists.
