Deposits in Egypt Post up by 14% over the past year: CAPMAS

The reason for the increase is the ease of dealing and confidence in Egypt Post and spread across the Republic :CAPMAS


The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) stated on Sunday that the value of the amounts deposited in the Postal Saving Fund reached EGP 114.9bn at the end of last fiscal year compared to EGP 100.6bn at the end of 2015-2016, marking an increase of 14.2%.

CAPMAS attributed the reason for the increase to “ease of dealing and confidence in post offices and spread among the Republic.”

The amounts deposited in the postal checks (current account – silver – gold) amounted to EGP 73.9bn in 2016-2017 compared to EGP 56.8bn in 2015-2016, an increase of 29.9%.

The value of pensions disbursed from post offices reached EGP 63.8bn in 2016-2017 compared to EGP 55.7bn in 2015-2016, marking an increase of 14.6%.

The number of pensions from post offices reached EGP 68.1m in 2016-2017 compared to EGP 65.1m in 2015-2016, an increase of 4.6%.

The value of stamps sold and models in postal units was EGP 189.7m during the last fiscal year compared to EGP 250.8m in 2015-2016, a decrease of 24.3%.

The number of postal service offices reached 3937 in 2016-2017 compared to 3927 in 2015-2016, an increase of 0.3%.

The number of electronic payment service units that serve the Republic reached 2146 units last fiscal year compared to 2144 units in 2015-2016, an increase of 0.1%.

Electronic payment is an automated system that enables the ability to conduct financial transactions and inquire about the balance, according to the statement.

The World Postal Day is on October 9th every year, it is the day in which the Universal Postal Union (UPU) was founded in 1874, which is the main forum for cooperation between postal sectors in other countries, according to CAPMAS.
