560, total number of delegates abroad on scientific missions in 2017: CAPMAS

The Central Agency for Public Mobilisation and Statistics (CAPMAS) announced Tuesday in its annual bulletin of delegates travelling abroad on scientific missions in 2017 that the total number of delegates reached 560.

The CAPMAS stated that 435 delegates out of the 560 travelled on scholarships in 2017, compared to 328 delegates in 2016—an increase of 32.6%.

Concerning the degree that the delegates abroad on scientific missions obtained in 2017, the CAPMAS revealed that there were 405 delegates, representing 72.3% of the total number of delegates, who have obtained a PhD.

Meanwhile, the CAPMAS stated that the number of delegates that obtained a rmaster’s degree in 2017 reached 40 delegates, representing 7.1% of the total number of delegates.

Furthermore, “the number of delegates who obtained the post doctoral research recorded 57 delegates, representing 10.2% of the total number of delegates,” the CAPMAS asserted.

In terms of the type of study that the delegates were studying abroad, according to the CAPMAS, 494 delegates were studying applied studies, representing 88.2% of the total number of delegates, while 66 delegates were studying humanitarian and social studies, representing 11.8% of the total number of delegates.

The CAPMAS is the official statistical agency of Egypt that collects, processes, analyses, and disseminates statistical data, and conducts the census.
