Promoting sustainable development initiatives, projects at Ministry of Communications on trip of Egyptian adventurer

This trip aims to promote the Sustainable Development Goals and Egypt’s Vision 2030, by highlighting and supporting a number of community development issues, the foremost of which is creating the image of the renewable-energy-using Egyptian

The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) announced the sponsorship of Egyptian adventurer Ali Abdo’s journey in which he travels across all the governorates of Egypt using an electric bike, on a journey that is the longest in the world. The adventure will take a hundred days, starting from Abu Simbel temple on 22 February when the sun is most perpendicular to the face of King Ramses II statue and ends on 1 June 2020 at the Pyramids of Giza, through 75 cities in all the governorates of Egypt.

This trip aims to promote the Sustainable Development Goals and Egypt’s Vision 2030, by highlighting and supporting a number of community development issues, the foremost of which is creating the image of the renewable-energy-using Egyptian. The trip is also meant to promote the MCIT’s attempt to transform the country into a digital society.

Among the most prominent axes of transformation to a digital society, according to the MCIT, is the development of cultural digital content. Hence, the Egyptian adventurer seeks, through his trip, to have a professional digital identity for Egypt by documenting his visits to historical monuments, industrial activities and national initiatives implemented in the governorates, while highlighting success stories of heritage sites and handcrafters. This way, people are able to witness the context in which renewable energy may situate itself in while getting to tour around Egypt’s cultural and historical sites.

During the trip, a number of initiatives and projects presented by the ministry focus on developing digital skills for community members by supporting creativity and innovation and caring for and building human cadres. This will stimulate entrepreneurship like the remote diagnosis project, and women empowerment projects.

This sponsorship comes within the continuous support that the MCIT contributes to foster innovative ideas for young talents and adapt them to the service of comprehensive development issues.
